Background:

So 2020 did not go the way ANYONE could've imagined it to be. There were a lot of highs and lows to the year (but mostly lows) and people were forced to fundamentally change the way that they lived and interacted with others. March 13th. That was the day universally acknowledged of the entire world shutting down and (most) people taking the virus seriously. There have been many friends that I have not seen since then. Many friends who I am eagerly waiting to see once this is all over. I truly empathize with all those who have lost more than just the ability to see their friends and family.

I, myself, had many imaginary plans to go to more countries around the world but had to put those on pause. Instead, I stuck with a couple of close friends, Marko and Raquel, and we hung out in Atlanta together. To break the monotony and quarantine depression though, I did still want to go places and do things safely so I dragged them along and made the most out of what we could.

This year was not like anything we could have predicted (as regular American citizens). We truly learned a lot about the fundamental failings of the system and I want to take a moment to recognize and remember those that have had their lives changed or lost, not just to the pandemic but also to the fight for racial equality and systematic changes to improve the state of our country for everyone who lives in it. If you haven't already, please take some time to contact your friends and family to check up on them and tell them you love them. <3

Please enjoy the stories and pictures below as I became more professional in my ability to take pictures.

Fort Myers, Florida

Our first stop in Europe was not actually Brussels. We had one day before where we spent in Den Haag and Rotterdam and took a night Thalys train to Brussels.

When we woke up in Brussels the next day, we were not too sure what we wanted to do, where we could walk since we didn't have any sort of transportation, or what the tourist sites were. We started our day in La Grand Place, which is the central square of Brussels. The picture on the right is one of several beautiful buildings on this easily accessible square, with numerous tourist spots nearby. Both pictures below are also short walks away from the square with the one on the left being the Grand Palace.

We also stopped by the European Union headquarters where we took a tour to learn more about what they do and how they operate. Afterwards, we stopped by a pub for authentic Belgian cold ones (beers) with the boys and made our way over to the train station to catch our next Thalys train (in first class) to Paris.
